KIRKLAND, Wash. - Employees of Kirkland-based technology and consulting firm Allyis, took a stand for those in need in our community, contributing nearly $12,000 for charity during the company's United Way of King County Giving Campaign. Allyis contributed more than $5,700 in addition to its employees' gifts to ensure that more than $17,000 was infused into local and national charities.
"The need we are seeing in the community is unprecedented," said Joel Feldman, resource development officer for United Way of King County. "Food bank lines are growing and more people in our community are struggling just to make ends meet. Yet the generosity here in King County is remarkable, and people are stepping up to respond that need. At Allyis, the employees gave over $17,000 to help the most vulnerable and create fundamental, lasting change."
The recipients of Allyis employees' generosity include Childhaven, the Humane Society of King County, Pasado's Safe Haven and United Way of King County.
Allyis employee Beverly Greifendorff says, "Giving to the United Way of King County lets me lend a helping hand to people right here in my community. I like knowing that my donation is helping those who are struggling through these tough times-maybe even in our own backyard-get back on their feet and on with their lives."
The company is dedicated to charitable giving and its corporate citizenship director, Kristy Law, is continually impressed by employees' selflessness and focus on those in need in the community. "During a recession, to see giving at the levels we've seen during this campaign reminds me that our employees feel intensely committed to the community they live and work in. The caliber of individuals that work at Allyis is demonstrated in their phenomenal generosity towards charity."
The 2008 campaign which was the company's first raised more than $20,000 and the company is thrilled that, despite tough economic times, giving in 2009 is on track with last year and employees continue to give despite the current economic conditions.
