KIRKLAND, Wash. - Allyis Inc., a Kirkland, Wash.-based technology and consulting firm, is pleased to announce that it is a recipient of a 2009 Commendation of Merit Award in the "Behind the Firewall" category of the Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) Awards program (http://sncr.org). The Society honors innovative organizations that are pioneering the use of social media, ICT, mobile media, online communities, and collaborative technologies in the areas of media, marketing, public relations, advertising, entertainment, education, politics, and social initiatives.
"Allyis' program is an impressive example of the successful and innovative use of new tools, technologies, solutions, and practices to enhance communications and relationships," commented Jen McClure, Founder and President of the Society.
Allyis was recognized for its intranet site, My Allyis. In 2009, My Allyis was built as a centralized, Web-based location for Allyis' dispersed workforce to receive announcements, locate forms, find people, collaborate with co-workers, and surface knowledge within the organization. Allyis partnered three of its internal teams, HR/Employee Experience, Project Services, and IT, to develop the new intranet site. The three teams had the following goals to guide the production of the site: a more stable server environment, a site architecture that allowed for future growth, increased information discoverability, and improved communication channels. The site also needed to support Allyis' open company culture that encourages transparency and the development of user generated content.
In the end, My Allyis was not only a place for Allyis' dispersed workforce to find company information, but it was a robust collaborative environment where employees could share knowledge and information using personal blogs, discussion boards, wikis, and other social tools. Most importantly, the new site met the needs of both of the company's distinct workforces, the client-facing employees and the internal support teams, who use the site very differently-the former to "find" company information and the latter to "disperse" information.
"We are honored to receive this distinctive award," said Rochelle Hill, Executive Vice President, Allyis. "It is exciting to learn that the new My Allyis intranet not only improved communications within our organization, but was also recognized for its success by the Society for New Communications Research, a leader of conversations around new communication and technological innovation."
