Leveraging the Power of Social Media to Help Humanity
Seth Godin has said that, thanks to social media tools, if you feel passionately about an idea you now have the ability to quickly build a following around that idea and lead people to change the world. I’ll have more to say about that idea in a later post — some thinking about the practical considerations that go into achieving that.
But tonight I just want to share this video from Twestival Seattle with you because it’s an example of one person here in Seattle who is taking advantage of the ease and the reach of social media to actually try to change the world. Jeremiah Owyang posted a tweet today saying that the trick to success in social media is “add value.” I’d say that’s good advice, but it’s also an old principle of success just dressed in the new clothes of social media. Buckminster Fuller said “I believe you can get everything you want out of life if [...]
Twitter Ecosystem: The Tools
I have not developed my own application using the Twitter API. But at times I feel like I may be the only person who hasn’t. What could we do with the energy expended on new Twitter-based apps if we could just harness it somehow? As the list of new Twitter-based apps grows, it seems there [...]
